Sports industry friends and colleagues,
If you’re anything like me you’ve been rocked by the recent news of the spread of the Coronavirus and the subsequent cancellations of our games and events. This has quickly become an international public heath crisis and state of emergency, and the safety of our family, friends, athletes and loved ones is the top priority right now.
I commend the sports, leagues, venues and entertainment destinations for acting swiftly in suspending operations and putting a stop to our games and large gatherings in an effort to “flatten the curve” and slow the spread of this virus while we work together to get tests and the resources we need to fight it.
I’m confident that as an industry, we’re doing what is necessary to help the cause, and I'm confident we'll get through this. However, making some of these tough decisions has left many sports industry employees wondering what to do right now and wondering what the future holds. The truth is, none of us knows for sure and we at Sports Business Solutions are right there with you. We want to help however we can in this time of need.
At SBS we provide sales training, consulting, and recruiting services to sports teams and properties all over North America, and through our educational platform theClubhouse we bring people together to share industry best practices, content and inside information to help individuals and teams succeed in sports. During this challenging time, we want to ramp up and provide even more resources for the industry in an effort to help as many people as we can.
I’m proud to announce that starting this week, and for the foreseeable future, we’ll be producing a series of free content pieces in theClubhouse designed to help sports industry professionals deal with the difficulties of the times we’re in right now. These pieces will include new blogs and webinars with both SBS personnel and sports team executives, and they will also include open Q/A forums where people can ask questions. Our hope is that we can come together as an industry to support each other through this crisis.
As mentioned, the content will be free and will include topics such as: Staying engaged as a team, how to stay positive, tips on working from home, what to do with your down time, mental health resources, how to manage stress and anxiety, and we’ll also provide free sales training sessions and exercises to keep your skills sharp during this time. All of this can be consumed from home and will be made available to everyone after the fact as well.
We’ve also created this short survey and hope you’ll take 1 minute to complete it. We want to hear from you! What can we help you with right now? The responses will be considered when we’re creating new content so your participation here is huge. Chances are, if you’re struggling with something, others are too. These responses are anonymous and hope you decide to share with us. Thanks in advance, you can take the short survey here:

More to come, but for now, I’ll leave you with the tweet I sent last week because I believe it to be true:
“#SportsBiz community, this is bigger than us. But the strength of our network is strong. Lean on each other during this time, share ideas, stay engaged, and stay positive. When we come out of this… people will be looking for sports to heal. It’s important we’re ready when it happens”
Stay safe out there and please reach out directly if I can help you with anything. bob@sportsbusiness.solutions
